About Salary Calculator Australia
We built one tool to answer the question every Australian worker asks sooner or later: what will I actually take home? Not a rough guess — a calculation that accounts for tax, Medicare, super, HELP, overtime, casual loading and contract work, all in one place.
Why we built this
Most salary calculators are built for one kind of worker — usually someone on a standard full-time salary with no complications. That leaves a lot of people without a good answer: casual and shift workers juggling penalty rates, contractors working out what a day rate needs to cover, people with a side hustle trying to understand their combined tax position, and anyone comparing two job offers where one is “plus super” and the other is “including super.”
Salary Calculator Australia was built to cover that full range in one tool, using the actual rules for the financial year that applies to you rather than a single generic estimate.
What this calculator does
Our calculator estimates take-home pay after income tax, the Medicare Levy, the Medicare Levy Surcharge, HELP repayments and superannuation, across four financial years — 2023–24 through 2026–27 — using the tax brackets, thresholds and repayment rules that actually applied in each of those years.
Built for real pay situations
Standard salary, casual and shift work, contracting, and side-hustle income are all modelled separately, not squeezed into one generic form.
Financial-year accurate
Tax brackets, the Superannuation Guarantee rate, Medicare thresholds and HELP repayment rules are calculated per financial year, not a single fixed rate applied everywhere.
Transparent about assumptions
Every result shows the assumptions behind it and links to the official ATO pages the figures are based on, so you can verify anything for yourself.
Our approach to accuracy
Tax rules change every financial year, and we treat that as a maintenance commitment, not a one-off build. Rates and thresholds are checked against published ATO information, and where a figure genuinely isn’t settled or confirmable, we say so rather than presenting a guess as fact.
What we’re not
We’re not the Australian Taxation Office, and we’re not affiliated with it. We’re not a registered tax agent, accountant, or financial adviser, and nothing on this site is personal tax or financial advice.
Our calculator produces an estimate based on the information you enter and standard assumptions — it doesn’t know your full financial picture, and it can’t account for every individual circumstance. For anything that affects a tax return, a loan application, or a financial decision, check with the ATO directly or speak to a registered tax agent.
Questions, feedback, or found something that looks off?
We’d genuinely like to hear about it — accuracy issues especially.
